2.26 - Territory & Store Restrictions

By default, Madverse delivers every release worldwide across all selected DSPs. Territory restrictions let you exclude specific markets.

2.26.1 Why territory restrictions are used

  • Licensing limitations — a sample clearance or cover licence cleared for one territory but not another
  • Contractual exclusivity — another label or distributor holding rights in a specific market
  • Strategic sequencing — releasing in defined territories before international expansion

2.26.2 Compliance responsibility

Apple's Style Guide places responsibility for understanding local legal and cultural standards on the submitter — if content is unsuitable for a particular country's regulatory environment, the artist is responsible for restricting that territory before delivery, not Apple. Apple's content policy separately notes content must be legal and appropriate for the country or region where it is cleared, with violations subject to editorial hiding (Section 1, see 2.30).

2.26.3 Changing territory settings after go-live

Territory availability can be edited after a release is live; changes take effect after DSPs process the update, typically 1–5 days per platform.
