Can I use my own UPCs and ISRCs?

Artists have the option to utilise their own Universal Product Codes (UPCs) and International Standard Recording Codes (ISRCs).

We recommend using Madverse generated UPCs for re-releases and new releases, although artists are permitted to use their own UPCs. It is recommended to use Madverse UPCs to facilitate product tracking and prevent licensing conflicts.

If the submission contains bonus tracks (e.g., Deluxe Editions) or fewer tracks (e.g., Samplers), a new UPC should be assigned to distinguish the variations.

Each track is assigned a unique ISRC. When transferring a release from another distributor, using the same ISRC for identical sound recordings ensures consistency of streams and plays across Digital Service Providers (DSPs).

A new ISRC should be assigned if the track differs in any significant manner.

Assigning a new ISRC for a re-released track will reset the accumulated streams to zero.

Madverse automatically generates UPC and ISRC codes for each release and track uploaded to the system if they are not already provided by the user.
