If your release isn’t available on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, it may be because of Content ID restrictions.
For some clarification, read on for an explanation ?
Non-exclusive content.
If your track uses non-exclusive samples, it can’t go live on stores that use content recognition systems like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
Other stores (such as Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) will still be available.
What are non-exclusive samples?
These are sounds, loops, or beats that anyone can use — whether free or purchased from sample sites (like “royalty-free” packs).
Why it matters?
Content recognition systems compare all uploaded audio against music already online.
If your song uses sounds that appear in other tracks, it can cause false copyright matches so Content ID gets blocked to prevent that.
Examples of non-exclusive content:
- Samples from Splice, Cymatics, Looperman, etc.
- Public domain or creative commons sounds (e.g., speeches, film clips).
- Third-party backing tracks, even if leased or labeled royalty-free.
- Nature sounds (birds, water, rain, thunder, etc.).
- Vocaloids or AI-generated voices.
- White noise or static effects.
Prohibited types of content
The following types of music are not accepted for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok Content ID:
- Remixes of other artists’ songs (even with permission).
- Covers of public domain songs or traditional tunes.
- Movie or TV soundtrack clips.
- Nature or ambient soundscapes.
- Meditation, yoga, or sleep music.
- Chants, mantras, or prayers.
- Karaoke versions.
- Sound-alikes or imitation tracks.
- DJ sets or continuous mixes.
- Production library / background music made for use in videos, ads, or games.
These rules come directly from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok so unfortunately, they can’t be appealed.
What you can do?
- Use only original music that you fully own and created.
- Avoid royalty-free or shared sample packs that others might use.
- Double-check that your metadata (title, artist name, ISRC) matches correctly.
- If you think your release was blocked by mistake, contact Madverse Support and include your UPC, ISRC, and YouTube link for review.
