3.7 - Music Mixed Up With Another Artist

Catalog occasionally gets attributed to the wrong artist profile on a DSP — almost always a metadata or identifier mismatch rather than a platform error.

3.7.1 Why this happens

DSPs match incoming releases to artist profiles using the submitted artist name and, where available, existing catalog signals. Inconsistent name spelling between releases (see 2.3.1) is the most common cause of this kind of mismatch.

3.7.2 Resolving it

Report the issue through Madverse with the specific release and the platform where the mix-up occurred. This is a metadata correction request (3.3) at its core, routed through the distributor rather than the DSP directly — consistent with how Spotify's own "Music mixed up with another artist" guidance frames the resolution path.
