Not every release automatically qualifies for Content ID — a few conditions determine eligibility.
8.2.1 Eligibility conditions
- The recording must be an original composition you have the rights to, or one where any underlying rights (samples, beats) are properly cleared (see 2.9, 2.17)
- Cover songs are generally not eligible for Content ID enrollment, since the underlying composition rights belong to someone else — see 2.15 for cover song crediting and licensing requirements
- The track must not already be registered with Content ID through a different distributor or rights administrator — registering the same recording in more than one place causes ownership conflicts (8.7.4)
8.2.2 Plan availability
YouTube Content ID and OAC setup are included on Creator, Professional, and higher paid plans (not Vibe). They are not limited to Professional (see 1.3).
