5.14 - Responding to an Artificial Streaming Notification

If Madverse notifies you of suspected artificial streaming on a release, here are the concrete steps to take.

5.14.1 What the notification means

Either a DSP's own monthly report (5.13.3) or Madverse's internal monitoring has flagged unusual activity on a specific release. This is a notification of suspected, not necessarily confirmed, artificial streaming — receiving one does not automatically mean royalties have already been withheld.

5.14.2 What to do

5.14.3 What happens during an appeal

Royalties for the disputed period are typically held pending the outcome of the review rather than paid out immediately — this protects both the artist (in case of a false positive) and Madverse's relationship with DSPs (in case the flag is confirmed).

5.14.4 If the flag is confirmed

See Section 11 for Madverse's full penalty and appeal framework for confirmed cases.
